CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

Human Concern International, HCI

Our Vision

A Small Step … A Big Difference.

The unique journey of one sponsor connecting with a child will brighten a hopeful path in both their lives.

What is the Child Sponsorship Program (CSP)?
HCI’s Child Sponsorship Program is a unique program that links sponsors with needy children. The sponsor becomes responsible for a poor child’s monthly assistance, and he/she receives a profile and photograph of his/her sponsored child. Sponsors receive updated annual reports and photographs of their sponsored children.  For many, the children become integral members of their extended family, as they become a pillar of strength and support in the lives of these children.

Who benefits?
Needy and impoverished children up to the age of 18 reap the benefit of this program.  Their needs are assessed by field workers who determine if the children qualify to enroll in the program.

How do the children benefit?
Children are provided with continual financial assistance for medical, educational, and basic needs such as food and clothing. For children who are of school age, the emphasis is placed upon education and ensuring that each child gets the opportunity to attend school.

Where does the program operate?
The Child Sponsorship Program continues to expand, exerting support to needy children from different regions of the world. Currently the program aids children from ten countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Guyana, Kashmir, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan and Lebanon.

Why is this program necessary?
As conflict, natural disasters, poverty and malnourishment plague our world, children continue to be the prime victims. The number of children who live in poverty is increasing.  Millions of children do not possess basic daily necessities integral to their livelihoods.  They lack access to education, proper housing, and adequate health care.  Faced with these realities, HCI feels the necessity of creating a program that focuses on the children and that helps them directly.

Procedures Involved in Sponsoring a Child

When a sponsor indicates his/her wish to sponsor a child, we require the following information:

  1. Sponsor’s contact information
  2. The country where the sponsor wishes to sponsor a child
  3. Payment options
    • monthly Pre-Authorized Payment via bank account (need void cheque) or credit card
    • cheques, online or cash (in person)
  1. A written request for sponsorship is required from potential sponsors to initiate the payment process. Communication through email would be quickest.

Once HCI gets the confirmation to start the CSP, and after it has received the first payment from the sponsor, HCI proceeds with linking the sponsor with a child in need.  Financial contributions from the sponsor are earmarked for a particular child effective on the date of receipt of the written notice.
