POSITION:

Human Concern International (HCI) is a humanitarian relief and development organization, working to help alleviate human suffering in over 20 countries worldwide. At the present time, we are seeking a Manager, Events planning and Fundraising for the head office in Ottawa

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager, Events Planning & Fundraising assists in the development and implementation of communications and marketing initiatives. Plans, coordinates, promotes and executes events. Supports the development of, and maintains relationships with key organization stakeholders including staff , volunteers, suppliers, donors, sponsors and other partners. Maintains a core of volunteers and provides orientation and support to them. Represents HCI in a professional manner. Provides generalized communications support in a variety of capacities as required, ie. marketing, advertising, writing, editing, program/promotion materials, internal communications, media and public relations, donation transactions, etc. Other duties include: Development and maintenance of potential donor database and coordination of mass mailing campaigns.

Screening Criteria:
Excellent English (oral and written) is a must! Knowledge of other languages is an asset. Successful completion of Post-Secondary Program, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience; Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point and familiarity with design software e.g. Publisher, Adobe, etc. Knowledge of data base fundraising system is a definite asset. Previous experience working with a voluntary or a non-governmental organization is required.

Conditions of Employment:
Mobility is extremely important. Must have use of personal vehicle and the ability to travel. Willingness to work flexible hours.
