MANAGER-FUNDRAISER – BRANCH OFFICE TORONTO:
The Manager-Fundraiser & Fundraising assists in the development and implementation of communications and marketing initiatives. Plans, coordinates, promotes and executes events. Supports the development of, and maintains relationships with key organization stakeholders, donors, sponsors and other partners. Maintains a core of volunteers and provides orientation and support to them. Provides generalized communications support in a variety of capacities as required, ie. marketing, advertising, writing, editing, program/promotion materials, internal communications, media and public relations, donation transactions, etc. Other duties include: Development and maintenance of potential donor database and coordination of mass mailing campaigns.
Coordinate and direct fund raising activities such as direct mail campaigns and bazaars, lectures, public education programs, dinners and presentations. Foster new relationships, linkages with visible and other communities, organizations, centers and associations. Produce promotional materials, newsletters, pamphlets, flyers and other items suiting the area needs. Conduct public education programs. Participate in ethnic community activities. Provide orientation, training and support to volunteers, and develop and maintain a volunteer management program. Manage and maintain Donor Data Base.
Work with headquarters to develop and maintain appropriate and effective operations of the programs.
COMMUNCATIONS OFFICER- HEADQUARTERS, OTTAWA (ON HOLD)
This position is responsible for creating, developing and writing the contents used by HCI to assist with awareness, public education, promotion, mailing campaigns and fundraising events.
The incumbent will: Develop, design, edit and produce in Microsoft Office (ADOBE/COREL DRAW/PHOTOSHOP/PUBLISHER) Newsletters, Brochures, Booklets, Posters, Flyers and Promotional Materials. Organize, arrange and advertise awareness presentations, conferences, forums and workshops. Assist with the coordination and delivery of HCI events and participate in other organizations and partners’ programs.
Coordinate and/or provide materials for web site up date. Assist with ongoing website design, production content and maintenance. Ensure reliable hosting services. Maintain adequate and appropriate electronic and paper files AND Build and maintain donor data base.
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT - HEADQUARTERS, OTTAWA
The Financial Accountant is responsible for providing a wide range of financial services. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: preparing monthly financial statements by ensuring that all transactions from other sub-modules are posted to the general ledger and that all material transactions are posted to the correct month; preparing account reconciliations, schedules and audit working papers for selected general ledger accounts; preparing monthly bank reconciliation and following up with the bank on any outstanding reconciliation issues; reviewing and approving all cash receipts deposits and ensuring revenue is recorded to the correct general ledger accounts; recording cash receipts revenue in campaign fundraising system and issuing tax receipts to donors who are eligible; preparing monthly general journal entries (accruals, prepaid expenses, investment revenue, depreciation etc) and ensuring that entries are posted to the FRE and ACCPAC accounting system; assisting in the disbursements and reconciliations to partners and regional and branch offices; preparing cash flow projection summaries and assisting the Executive Director in the management of cash; liaising with Fund development to ensure correct and accurate recording of codes into the General Ledger; participating in special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
For the Manager-Fundraiser, Branch Office position in Toronto:
Successful completion of an approved Post-Secondary Program in a administration, finance, social science and or associated discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience relevant to the position.
Minimum of two years related experience in fundraising and fund development
Computer skills required: Microsoft office-Publisher; Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, web design skills; desktop publishing software
Must have excellent writing and editorial abilities
Previous experience within the non-profit sector a definite asset
For the Communications Officer position in Ottawa:
Degree, Diploma or certificate with concentration in public relations, communications, journalism, English, or marketing.
Minimum of two years related experience writing and editing the English language within a marketing or communications environment.
Must have good computer skills (Microsoft office-Publisher; Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, web design skills; desktop publishing software)
Knowledge of functional areas of fundraising communications
For the Financial Accountant position in Ottawa:
Diploma or Certificate in a recognized accounting program.
Two (2) years related financial services experience.
Experience in a multi-level, not-for-profit organization is preferred.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Willingness to travel. Possession of a car and a valid driver's licence.
