We are shocked by a massive fire that swept through a slum in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, leaving thousands of people homeless.
Early reports suggest that as many as 50,000 people have lost their homes. Many are taking shelter in a school building.
“I could not salvage a single thing. I don’t know what will I do,” Abdul Hamid, who ran a tea stall inside the slum, told BBC.
HCI’s team on the ground has assessed the situation, and is ready to respond. We have set up a Bangladesh Emergency Relief Fund to provide an Emergency Relief Kit, which includes food and sleeping items, to the families living in temporary shelters.
One kit costs $100. Please donate below, and let’s work together to help those in need.
