Last year, Human Concern International came to the aid of +50 indigenous families, providing much-needed winter gear packages to get children through the winter. Many of the families came to us to pick up their packages (consisting of jackets, hats, gloves, and other winterwear), and seeing the joy on their faces was invaluable to us.
We also gave out winter packages to the Akwesasne reserve. Danielle Oakes, who received the packages on behalf of the Akwesasne reserve, said that many of the children live in conditions similar to that of third world countries. Danielle passed on the appreciation of the Akwesasne for our discrete registration that respects the privacy and dignity of the community.
It was an amazing initiative, and we hope that this year, with your help, we can do even more for indigenous communities in Canada! Donate here and spread the gift of warmth this holiday season.
